KISS, AC/DC Members Jam At NAMM | Video

Video footage of all-star Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy band featuring former members of KISS, AC/DC and WINGER performing THE ROLLING STONES classic "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 15-18 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, can be viewed below.

Kulick wrote about the jam on his web site: "I was asked by the Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp to be part of a jam gig for Bugera amps, made by a very large famous company called Behringer. Kip Winger was on bass and vocals, Mark Hudson on guitar and vocals, Earl Slick on guitar and Chris Slade on drums rounded out the all-star band, and we kicked off the pre-NAMM show with our songs Wednesday at the Hilton next to the convention center. We did BEATLES, AEROSMITH, LED ZEP, AC/DC etc., and the president of the company, Uli Behringer (who is a great keyboard player), got up and jammed along on some of the songs."

No Good TV has posted an interview with Massachusetts metallers SHADOWS FALL where they get drunk, curse a lot and talk about their music while NGTV's non-sequiter of a host, Shark Firestone, eggs them on.

SHADOWS FALL recently received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for "Redemption", the first single from the band's newest release, "Threads of Life". This marked SHADOWS FALL's second Grammy nomination in the category, following the group's nod at the 2006 awards for "What Drives The Weak" off the Century Media release "The War Within".

SHADOWS FALL's overview of its years as a Century Media recording act (before signing with Atlantic for the U.S. and Roadrunner for Europe), "Seeking the Way: The Greatest Hits", was released in late October.

SHADOWS FALL will reissue its Century Media debut, "Of One Blood", on April 15.

A SHADOWS FALL B-side from the "Threads of Life" sessions called "Stupid Crazy" is included on the "Resident Evil: Extinction" soundtrack, which was released in September 2007 via Lakeshore Records.

After months of anticipation, Miami, Florida-based hard rock band BLACK TIDE has finally unveiled the video for its blazing single "Shockwave". The Travis Kopach-directed (BUCKCHERRY, PANIC! AT THE DISCO) directed clip finds the group turning a non-descript suburban home into a frenzy of moshing fans and skateboarders pulling tricks on a half-pipe! The motocross bad boys of the Metal Mulisha also make an appearance making this video a throwback to the glory days of '80s metal!

BLACK TIDE is streaming its entire debut album "Light from Above" on the group's imeem page (free registration required to hear full tracks). The CD, which was released today (March 18) via Interscope Records, was recorded with producer Johnny K, who has previously worked with DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD and SOIL, among others.

Swedish metallers SABATON will release their new album "The Art of War" on May 30 via Black Lodge Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Attero Dominatus" was recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Peter Tägtgren and will be made available in three formats: normal CD, gatefold LP and a limited-editon CD that comes in a DVD package that also will include the exclusive book "The Art of War".

Mark Chasen, the lead singer of the Somerdale, New Jersey-based rock band MOTORNATURE and Litsa Olsson, who apparently works as a real-state agent in the Lynnwood, Washington area, got a chance to rock with QUEENSRŸCHE during their February 9, 2008 concert at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and February 29, 2008 show at Big Easy in Spokane, WA, respectively.

Chasen and Olsson were among the three vocalists from each city that were selected to sing karaoke versions of either "Synchronicity II" (THE POLICE), "Welcome To The Machine" (PINK FLOYD), or "Neon Knights" (BLACK SABBATH). The crowd voted for Mark and Litsa by their enthusiastic response after they rocked "Neon Knights" and Chasen and Olsson both got a chance to play the song live with QUEENSRŸCHE during the band's set in their respective cities.

DARKANE Launches Studio Video Diary

Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"This is our first post from the studio. We entered the studio on Monday the 18th of February. We still don't have our own studio since the old one was flooded this past summer so we're renting another studio here in Helsingborg where we set up all our own equipment. Like usual when DARKANE is in the studio, we had tons of bad luck so it took four days setting up the studio, changing all cables that suddenly were broken, changing toms that sounded bad in this recording room and so on; quite frustrating when you just want to start recording.

"I've laid down drums on 14 tracks and we'll see how many end up on the final CD. It's hard to tell what direction the record is taking but it definitely sounds like DARKANE and with lots of fast songs. I came up with some cool improvised parts and I also had to take some time 'writing' some typical Wildoer parts in the studio.

"Right now we're recording guitars and almost half of the songs are done. The guitar sound is killer, in my opinion. Right now, Chris [Christofer Malmström, guitar] is shredding so his fingers bleed and Klas [Ideberg, guitar] has also done some insane riffing. Next week Jörgen [Löfberg] will start recording the bass and Chris and Klas will continue with melody and solo guitars. We will also be posting a video diary for this album. You can view the first installment below."

DARKANE played its first show with new singer Jens Broman (CONSTRUCDEAD, THE DEFACED) in November 2007 at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. According to Malmström, "Jens enjoyed every second of the show, and so did the rest of us. Our former vocalist Andreas was in the audience to support us, and he was very postive afterwards... along with the rest of the crowd."

DARKANE's upcoming DVD was shot in May 2006 in the band's hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden.

DARKANE has been confirmed for Chicago Powerfest 2008. The sixth annual metal festival will take place on Friday/Saturday, May 2-3, at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL. There will also be an official Powerfest "kick-off" show on May 1, featuring ENSIFERUM, TURISAS, TYR and ELUVEITIE, who will be making a stop along their Paganfest tour.

Finnish metal cellists APOCALYPTICA were accompanied by pop singer Hanna Pakarinen for their performance of the song "S.O.S. (Anything but Love)" at this year's Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy equivalent), which was held last night (Saturday, March 8) at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki.

IRON MAIDEN: 'The Blooper' Spoof Video Released

Santeri Ojala, the 32-year-old media artist from Tampere, Finland, who is the madman behind the YouTube.com "Shreds" video series, has unleashed his latest creation: a send-up of IRON MAIDEN. Watch the clip below.

"One day I was watching a video of Steve Vai performing and the sound was off", Santeri recently told GuitarPlayer.com. "The whole thing looked kind of funny, I had my guitar in my hands, so for laughs…"

Ojala then took the video and overdubbed a cavalcade of limp bends, mangled runs, and whammy bar work that resembles a sick goose, deftly turning Vai's offerings of chocolate mousse into cow pie. "I've been amazed at the reaction these videos have gotten," says Ojala who has also spoofed Clapton, Van Halen, Slash, Gary Moore, METALLICA, and Santana among others. "I mean, I know I’ve done an okay job, but still".

NIGHTWISH will Perform At Germany's ECHO AWARDS

Finnish & Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH are to perform at the German Echo Awards tonight (Friday, February 15) in Berlin. The event will be broadcast throughout Germany on the RTL network.

NIGHTWISH has been nominated for an Echo Award in the "Rock/Alternative (International)" category.

The bands latest album "Dark Passsion Play" has gone gold in Germany for sales in excess of 100,000 copies. The award presentation took place on December 29, 2007 at the On A Dark Winter's Night Festival in Oberhausen, Germany, where NIGHTWISH played in front of 6,000 fans. "Dark Passion Play" has also been certified triple platinum in the band's home country of Finland, platinum in Switzerland, and gold in Sweden, Austria and Poland.

Los Angeles hardcore metal band TERROR is said to have signed a deal with Century Media Records for the release of the bands new album. The band is currently recording with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED) at Planet Z studios in Hadley, Massachusetts.

TERROR's latest EP "Rhythm Amongst The Chaos" was released on October 30 through Reaper Records and includes four new songs and a definitive cover song with guest vocal appearance by Vinnie Paz of JEDI MIND TRICKS.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD is making a previously unreleased track called "Crossroads" available for downloading to those fans who bought the CD/MVI version of the band's self-titled fourth album. The song is one of 20 that the group recorded before whittling down the CD's final track list to 10. Singer M. Shadows told The Pulse of Radio that all the music the band wrote reflects its diversity. "The groundwork we've been setting for AVENGED SEVENFOLD hasn't been 'here's our sound,' it's been 'we don't have a sound, we're always gonna keep changing.' But you're always gonna know when we write something 'cause we kinda, you know, everyone kinda tends to go to the melodies that they like and that's what you like a band, 'cause you're like, 'I like what they do, that feels very AVENGED SEVENFOLD,' you know. It doesn't matter if it's a country song or more hip-hop influenced or whatever it is, it's gonna feel like AVENGED SEVENFOLD 'cause we wrote it and it came from our hearts."

Fans who bought and registered the MVI version of the disc can now enter the group's Fan Access Network [F.A.N.], a free fan club offering pre-sale tickets, never-before-seen videos and exclusive music like "Crossroads".

The band will issue more exclusive content through the F.A.N. later in the year.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD's new album has sold 282,000 copies in the United States since coming out last October, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It features the single "Almost Easy".

The band will next headline the 2008 Taste of Chaos tour, beginning on February 29 in Denver and also featuring ATREYU and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE.

A limited access version of the site has been online for months, but the full-fledged edition is now operational. A message on the home page reads, "The day of reckoning is upon us. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here, and we're pleased to have you joining us as we turn on the power at AC/DC's official website, ACDC.com!" The post promises all the latest news on the band and the official word on rumors, as well as a detailed history, photos, downloads and a chance for fans to submit their own video messages or tributes.

A contest currently running at the site offers a chance to win a Peavey bassM signed by bassist Cliff Williams.

The site also dismisses a recent rumor that AC/DC will play a surprise gig in Switzerland at the end of this month.

Reports surfaced earlier this month that AC/DC was finishing up its first album in eight years, tentatively titled "Strap It On", but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label Albert Music, denied the story.

The treatment of this bacteria comes with a strict hygienic schedule which I have to work through every day. Because of this I will not be able to go on long trips, let alone living in a tour bus. . . We cannot plan too far ahead since I first have to get rid of the infection and that will take some time. How long it will take we cannot tell at the moment. We are very sorry that we cannot do these shows. We were all looking forward to this tour and to meet you guys. Northwest Herald recently conducted an interview with former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash. A few of excerpts from the interview follow:

Northwest Herald: I understand that Japanese immigration officials wouldn't give you visas so you could play in that country. That must have been quite the blow.

Slash: We're trying to appeal that situation. It's nothing that we did since the last time we played there. But for whatever reason, they decided to do that. That obviously disappointed a lot of Japanese fans.

Northwest Herald: Ironically, the name of your latest album, "Libertad", is Spanish for "freedom."

Slash: Yeah, maybe that's it. Maybe Japan is turning Communist. It's a drag. We have a huge fan base there that are being denied concerts and whatnot.

Northwest Herald: There are three former members of GUNS N' ROSES in VELVET REVOLVER, including yourself. As far as the dynamic of VELVET REVOLVER, how do you think it is different from GUNS N' ROSES?

Slash: It's just a different band, that's the only way I can answer that. It's a rock band, and there's a lot of similarities to any of the rock bands I've been in. But it's a whole different group, really. I found that in most of the rock bands I've been involved with, the approach is pretty similar. You get together and listen to different ideas. It's a little bit more smooth sailing and a little bit faster in this band than it was in my last band.

Northwest Herald: Last year at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Sammy Hagar referred to you guys as the best rock 'n' roll band left on the planet. Do you guys see yourselves that way?

Slash: This is definitely one of the few real rock bands out there, as least that is getting played on the radio. The whole sort of rock 'n' roll spirit, and that whole energy and that vibe of living on the edge, is just rare among new groups. It's just the way it is.

Northwest Herald: So does this look to be a pretty big year for the band?

Slash: It's been great so far. We've done a lot of touring. We're definitely not going to tour as much as we did on the last record. That almost killed us. We were out for 2-1/2 years. In April, we are going to start working on the next record.

Northwest Herald: Any other projects you are working on?

Slash: Yeah, there's a couple of things here and there. There's a couple of recordings I have going on. I don't really talk about that stuff until it's out.

Northwest Herald: Any dream projects you are looking forward to?

Slash: I have a solo record that I'm looking forward to doing. But I'm not going to do it until the VELVET REVOLVER record is done. That will be in the next year or two.

Legendary hard rock singer Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, JOURNEY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) has posted a recap of his recent UK tour on his MySpace page. An excerpt follows:

"The UK dates were great. Well, [it] didn't start without drama.

"The Glasgow show pulled out the week before we left the U.S. I guess they got scared that we'd pull out of the show based on the TALISMAN problems earlier in the year so they pulled out for us; not cool! We ended up getting a last-minute replacement show in Nottingham which although was a small turnout (umm, NO time to advertise!), it also was one of those 'special' shows that only happens when the audience is intimate. It's one of those things with my solo band, we never go through the motions at any shows, they're always treated as their own entities depending on the audience, turnout, venue, vibe, etc.,

"The first gig in Sheffield was great. I'd played the Corporation before with SOUL SIRKUS, and to my delight, returned with more folks in tow! The only problem that night was the lack of sleep I had before showtime. We'd flown over the day before and I was awake pretty much from the time I got up in the early morning L.A. time until we landed, early morning Manchester time. I passed out about 11am and sprung up at 7pm. Not bad — 8 hours. Only problem is I was up from then 'till showtime the next night! Ain't jetlag a bitch? By the time we hit the stage, I was up 26 hours, by the time I got to bed, it was 32 hours! Thank God we had the next day off!

"Dudley was also a pleasant surprise with turnout and show. We were all a bit more rested and having Sheffield under our hats (it'd been a month since we played together and no rehearsal, add jetlag, you never know what to expect!), the show was already a well-oiled machine....well, OK, a few spare nuts and bolts, but great fun as usual.

"Nottingham was night 3 and London night 4. The Islington Academy is a great live venue and the night was electric from the first chord. It's always worrying playing London, as is NY and LA; most big city crowds don't react like smaller suburbs but that night was on fire, both band and crowd.

"The last show of the tour was Belfast, Ireland. We got in the day before to get some rest and relax a bit from the hurried travels the previous days... Yeah, right! I was up at 4:30am, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, headed downstairs to see if I could get a coffee or orange juice to find Howie and Gary had been there for hours killing time online (WiFi didn't connect in their rooms). Howie and I made our way to the earliest 'whatever was open' and got a just-opening McDonalds. Nothing like a little taste of home, eh? We got to the venue which had recently undergone a change in ownership and the original sound system was yanked out so a temporary one was brought in as to avoid yet another cancellation...wish we weren't the guinea pigs for such undertakings! The soundcheck was a nightmare and the constant feedback during the show didn't make things any better but what better than a sauced up Irish crowd to soak in the music and help us forget the traumas of bad sound."

ACE FREHLEY: 'Thank God I'm Clean And Sober Today'

Jeff Maisey of HamptonRoads.com recently did an interview with original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. A few excerpts from the interview follows:

HamptonRoads.com: When the members of KISS set out to make solo albums back in 1978, was there a competitive spirit to see whose album would sell best?

Frehley: "Oh, yeah. Before we all left to do our own records we had a big meeting. I might have read it wrong but the feeling I got from Paul [Stanley] and Gene [Simmons] was... I remember them saying to me, 'Hey, if you need any help on your record don't hesitate to call.' But I perceived it as a condescending comment, like you're going to need help or something. Gene had everybody and his brother on his record. I did my whole record on my own with me and Anton Fig on drums. I guess my head was in a good place at that time."

HamptonRoads.com: What were the best years of KISS in terms of camaraderie?

Frehley: "In the early days there was a lot of camaraderie. I used to room with Gene. We used to stay at Holiday Inns. Paul and Peter [Criss] roomed together. There was a lot of insanity, a lot of girls, a lot of parties, a lot of crazy times. I don't regret any of it, you know?"

HamptonRoads.com: Where did the smoking guitar idea come from in your KISS days?

Frehley: "I came up with the idea one day when I was up in Canada on the road and bought some smoke bombs. I ended up putting one in the volume control compartment of my Les Paul. I knew there was a canal because the wires had to go to the pickups. I figured if I lit off a smoke bomb in there it would have to seep out from around the pickup, and it worked, but it ended up screwing up the volume and tone control. I did that a couple of times, and then I ended up getting together with an engineer, and we routed out the back of the guitar and put in a metal box, and the smoke came out of the guitar pickup closest to the neck, which was actually a fake pickup."

HamptonRoads.com: In 1987, when FREHLEY'S COMET debuted at No. 43 on the Billboard 200 chart, did you feel vindicated?

Frehley: "From the time I had the success with my (first) solo album I knew that I had to leave the group and make my own way. There was a lot more I needed to express both artistically and musically that I couldn't do in KISS, because everybody wanted to sing lead, everybody wanted the spotlight. It was always a power struggle. I was just noticing some (KISS) videos recently that had been re-edited where I don't get as much spotlight as I originally had. It's just stupid stuff like that, you know? My biggest problem was once I got away from them and I got on my own, I was left to my own devices. Being a party animal ended up doing me in for a while."

HamptonRoads.com: Drugs and alcohol brought your career down, especially during your solo years. How were those days for you?

DEATH ANGEL's last CD "The Art of Dying" was released in May 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The group's first studio album since 1990's "Act III" was recorded at SF Soundworks studios in San Francisco, California with producer Brian Joseph Dobbs (VOIVOD, MANMADEGOD).

On tour in Europe, Doro Pesch spoke with Metal Asylum about her new EP "All We Are: The Fight" and her plans for another U.S. tour in 2008.

Metal Asylum: Now I know you have homes in both the States and Germany so where are you spending the holidays?

Doro: Oh, I am over in Europe right now. We are on tour until Christmas. It's really nice in New York with the decorations, and I know it just snowed there, so it must be nice in the city. We just finished playing a show here in my hometown Dusseldorf, Germany which was fantastic; we had all sorts of special guests singing on "All We Are", like Schmier from DESTRUCTION and Mille from KREATOR. Yeah, it was great. It was a huge metal festival with many great bands like W.A.S.P., SAXON, PRIMAL FEAR and U.D.O. played. It was the Metal Christmas festival. [Laughs] But that was the only festival appearance; now it's just the normal tour.

Metal Asylum: Now is this EP, "All We Are: The Fight", out now in the U.S.?

Doro: Yeah it is. There was this great event a few weeks ago with my friend Regina Halmich who is the undefeated boxing champion and she used my song "All We Are" as her entrance theme. And the record company then called and said they would like to have it as a single so we decided to make it special and add some more songs and then you have the videos as well. I think it's a nice package, ya know. It was really cool.

Metal Asylum: The other songs on the EP — "Thunderspell", "Everything's Lost" and "On My Own" — are those all more recent recordings?

Doro: Well, "On My Own" is new and is a duet with Marc Storace from KROKUS. The video is new also. The LED ZEPPELIN song "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" was actually part of a tribute album a while ago. "Everything's Lost" was available here on a limited edition cd which didn't come out in the States.

Metal Asylum: And who is in the DORO band?

Doro: Well, it's been the same guys I have had for many years. Nick Douglas has been playing for me for seventeen years, Johnny Dee has been on drums since 1993, and Joe Taylor came into the band in 1993 and Oliver Palotai on keyboards/guitars has been with several years. Then you have Chris Caffery, who came on board for the last tour as a great special guest as Joe Taylor took a little breather from touring but now he is back and will do the next leg of the American tour.

British progressive metallers THRESHOLD plan to book more live shows for 2008 before thinking about new material. "The whole band have enjoyed touring more than ever this year and are hungry for more", commented guitarist Karl Groom. THRESHOLD have already confirmed their appearance at the Legacy Festival in Serbia next May alongside bands including TESTAMENT and RAGE, and should be announcing more shows soon.

THRESHOLD ended their 2007 dates with a sold out performance to 8,000 fans at WITHIN TEMPTATION's homecoming show in Holland. "It was wonderful to be asked to support WITHIN TEMPTATION," commented vocalist Damian Wilson. "They've achieved so much and put on a spectacular, faultless show. For us it was the perfect end to a great tour, and I feel the beginning of a very positive new era for THRESHOLD."

Wilson was THRESHOLD's original vocalist and recently returned to the band following the departure of Andrew McDermott. "Having Damian back has brought a new energy and excitement to our live shows," commented keyboardist Richard West. "We've been having such a good time it's a shame the year's over."

Damian Wilson will continue touring with the band in 2008 but no decision has yet been made about his involvement on future albums.

After signing with Nuclear Blast last year, THRESHOLD released their eighth studio album, "Dead Reckoning", in March 2007. The CD brought the band their best chart success to date in the UK, Germany and Holland, and led to tracks on numerous compilations as well as a major Hollywood soundtrack. The band toured Europe in the autumn with a strong support package featuring COMMUNIC, MACHINE MEN and SERENITY, as well as playing many festivals in the UK, US and Europe.

THRESHOLD's live line-up also included SOLILOQUY's Pete Morten on guitar. "I've made no secret about how amazing it was to tour with THRESHOLD this year! For the first time in my life, I feel I've experienced professional touring the way that it was meant to be experienced," commented Morten. "I've made five new 'best friends' in Karl, Rich, Steve, Johanne and Damian."

NME.com reports: LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page has asked that fans attending tonight's (December 10) reunion show the O2 arena don't compare the band's performance to those of old.

He implied that he was worried that fans would be directly comparing their performance to those they gave in the 1970s.

"I'm not going to compare anything to anything," he told Q. "Before you know it people will be asking how this [reunion show] compares to the '70s."

He added: "When we did [1994 MTV performance with Robert Plant] 'Unledded' we totally changed the format of he songs. It was revisiting, but it wasn't a facsimile reproduction.

"But it's great to be playing this music again with the people who lived through the creative process of its making. It's a powerful experience. It feels like the right thing to be doing."

Manson is calling his sixth studio album "Eat Me, Drink Me" his most personal record yet, with many of the lyrics inspired by the end of his marriage to burlesque dancer Dita von Teese, the depression that followed, and his new romance with Evan Rachel Wood.

The video for the album's first single "Heart Shaped Glasses" features several softcore sex scenes between Manson and Wood. When asked by Rolling Stone how her parents reacted to the clip, Manson said, "Well, I had to have a drink with Evan's mother and father. The main thing that needs to be established is that I might share my life with her, but that does not incriminate her in my behavior...Basically, I'm not as bad in the way they'd like to think I am. But I'm bad in a different way. I'm always going to be bad."

Segments of Wellington's Christian community are voicing concern about the festival, saying that it is disappointing the concert is being run over Easter Sunday, which is a very important day for the Christian community.

ROB ZOMBIE's 'Halloween' DVD Due for Chrictmas

Rob Zombie's DVD of his recent hit remake of "Halloween" is scheduled for release on December 18. Zombie said the package will contain his "unrated" longer cut of the movie, loads of deleted scenes, documentaries and other bonus features. One thing it will not include, however, is the "workprint" version of the movie that leaked online prior to its theatrical release. Zombie told Bloody-Disgusting.com, "I don't know what this bullshit workprint is. Something got online which I never saw...the version from the day that someone decided to steal the movie and put it online is one of the 300 versions we were cutting. So I don't know what that is, but the one on the unrated DVD is not that."

Zombie also confirmed that recent rumors about him directing a remake of Eighties horror film "C.H.U.D." were "100% false," and that his "adult" cartoon "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto" will be completed in February when he finishes his current tour with OZZY OSBOURNE.

Zombie has not announced what his next live-action feature will be, although he has said it will "not be a horror film."

Finnish band TOTAL DEVASTATION have entered the studio to begin recording their fourth album "Honour the Disorder" for a spring 2008 release. A "journal" documenting the entire recording process can be found HERE!

TOTAL DEVASTATION released their third album "Wreck" in Europe on September 25, 2006. The CD was issued in Finland on August 23, 2006. The 11-song follow-up to 2005's "Reclusion" was recorded at Supreme studio and was mixed by Janne Saksa.

"Well, most of the recordings for the new album are done by now! We've been locked at Sweden's Studio Fredman for about a month now and I'm super-excited with the way things are shaping up! Killer sounds on the drums, guitars and bass. We've recorded 12 original songs and a few covers which will be revealed in time.

"I also want to set something straight since some people seem to be confused: Apollo is still in the band! Yes, he is singing on the new album [currently finishing up his vocal tracks — which in my opinion are his best performances ever!] and yes, he is going back on the road with us in 2008.

"Now onto something different and very special: Since we have gotten such a great response on our world tour 2006-2007 and have received so much love from our fans, we would like to give back by doing something special for them: We will play a one and only exclusive show in our hometown [Thessaloniki, Greece] on Saturday January 12th, 2008 at Principal Club Theatre, where we will perform our full upcoming brand new album LIVE! "I'd like to [share] a story. Kevin and I were talking one day and he told me about some girl scouts coming to his house to sell cookies and when he opened the door they started singing [TWISTED SISTER's] 'We're Not Gonna Take It', much to his chagrin. Kevin told me that people were often getting TWISTED SISTER's song confused with QUIET RIOT's 'Cum On Feel the Noize' and asked if that ever happened to me. I proudly [and smugly] told him it had not. I could see Kevin was a little embarrassed by this... even better.

"From that day on, I have often had people confuse my song with 'Cum On Feel the Noize', culminating at a major sporting event where the cameras picked me out of the crowd, put my face on the Jumbotron...and started blasting 'Cum On Feel the Noize' while thousands cheered! Now it was my turn to be embarrassed. It was like God was getting even with me for being such a smug asshole.

Winner of Finnish national TV talent competition "Idols", 23-year-old heavy metal singer Ari Koivunen performed his new single "Angels Are Calling" in an acoustic version on Finnish TV show "Huuma" [on MTV3] on Saturday, November 24. The song composed by STRATOVARIUS mainman Timo Tolkki appears on Ari Koivunen's debut solo album "Fuel for the Fire", which was recently certified double-platinum in Finland for sales in excess of 60,000 copies.

Capital Chaos has posted video footage of the Oregon/California death metal band BRAIN DRILL performing the song "Apocalyptical Feasting" on November 24, 2007 at The Kennel Club in Sacramento, California. Watch the clip below.

BRAIN DRILL recently inked a deal with Metal Blade Records. The group's new album "Apocalyptical Feasting" is tentatively due in early 2008.

BRAIN DRILL was formed in the summer of 2005 by Dylan Ruskin [guitars], whose next goal was to find a drummer that could actually play death metal and not just claim they could. Dylan ended up recruiting drummer Marco Pitruzzella, former drummer of VITAL REMAINS, VILE, VORNAGAR, ATROCIOUS HYSTERIA, NUMA, and a few other extreme metal bands. After a few months of jamming Steve Rathjen was then later put onto vocals. Rounding out the band is Jeff Hughell on bass who joined the band in the winter of 2006. With mind-blowing style and speed, inventing a 10-fingered tapping technique using a seven-string bass, and the song-learning capabilities of a genius it was quite obvious he was a perfect fit into this now four-piece arsenal.

As of now, BRAIN DRILL has shared the stage with bands such as CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS, NECROPHAGIST, JOB FOR A COWBOY, UNMERCIFUL, ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, and very many other extreme metal bands. Report: AXL ROSE 'Fought To Save His Home' From Wildfire

KCAL-TV [Channel 9], an independent station in Los Angeles, California owned by CBS Corporation, is reporting that GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose has plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend, but it was a close call. The wildfire in Southern California that left six firefighters hurt and destroyed dozens burnt his roof and all around his expansive property.

Rose's assistant Beta Lebeis, who lives on the property, says the rock legend fought to save his home. "He helped a lot," she said. "He did a lot. He was with the hose everywhere. Then the firetruck came in and locked us. So then they told us, 'Just close the garage doors and just go back in. There's nothing you can do,' because it was like an inferno outside."

According to The Sun, LED ZEPPELIN are rearranging classic tracks for their big reunion — after aging frontman Robert Plant [59] found he could no longer hit the high notes.

The rockers — whose legendary 1976 live album was called "The Song Remains The Same" — have been rehearsing songs in a lower key because 59-year-old Plant's voice is deeper.

The Sun's source revealed yesterday: "He and guitarist Jimmy Page have had a few heated discussions about the upcoming gig.

"Jimmy is a bit rusty and Robert has been struggling with the high notes. To avoid any embarrassing vocal wobbles with the world watching, they decided it would be best to transpose the songs in a lower key."

Next month's gig at London's O2 arena — LED ZEP's first in 19 years — was postponed by two weeks after Page, [63] broke a finger.

More than a million fans applied for tickets to see the band — whose classic tracks include "Whole Lotta Love", "Rock And Roll", "Kashmir" and "Stairway To Heaven".
